Turned Wood Lamp Painted Early California Mission Cholla Cactus Shade Vintage Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage turned wood lamp with a cholla cactus wood shade. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This charming lamp has a California mission scene painted on it. The shade clips on to a standard light bulb (a light bulb is not included, but one was used during the photography so the shade would stay in place). The cholla wood panels of the shade are held together with metal wire.

With the shade clipped to a bulb, the overall height of this piece is about 15 1/2 inches. The height to the top of the light bulb socket on the lamp is about 11 1/4 inches. The maximum width of the shade is about 9 inches. The diameter of the base of the lamp is approximately 4 3/4 inches. Unpacked, this item weighs 1 pound 12.4 ounces.

The lamp has a turn switch at the socket for turning it on and off. It has a brown plastic cord and plug. The underside of the lamp has green felt applied to it. This charming lamp would be a fine addition to a rancho or mission style decor.

Identification The maker of the lamp and shade are unknown. The exact age is not known, but it is probably circa 1930s or 1940s. The shade may not be original to the lamp.

This lamp was used for many years in my spare bedroom and it looks great with Mason Monterey furniture. Condition The lamp and the shade both look good overall. The lamp has some minor finish wear, fine scratches, and small, dings; there are a series of short cut marks to the lower part, as is visible in Photo 1.

The shade and the lamp are a bit dusty. As with all used electrical items, this should be rewired or inspected by a qualified professional before use even though the wiring and other electrical components look fine, cosmetically. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made. And international government regulations prohibit such behavior.
