MID to LATE 19TH CENTURY AME RI CAN FOLK ART, NEW ENGLAND PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE SIGNED BENTWOOD OAK DRY MEASURE, featuring NAILED, AFFIXED TIN BANDS, with NATURALLY OXIDIZED ANTIQUE WOOD PATINA & MELLOW CHESTNUT/AMBER COLOR, STAMPED ILLEGIBLY. On INTERIOR BASIN in HIGH CASE, OBSCURED TYPOGRAPHY. Mid to late 19th century Ame ri can folk art, New England primitive antique bentwood, lidded pantry boxes & bentwood oak measures. 4 ½ " Height x 7" Width. Offered is this very handsome, estate fresh and new to the marketplace, steamed, bentwood oak mid to late 19th century American folk art antique primitive measure, with attached, nailed tin reinforcing sidewall bands and crisscross bottom bands to support the jig-cut wooden floor. The measure is signed with a stamped maker's mark on the inside of the bottom floor but due to prior use, has now been unfortunately muddled and is illegible. The measure is an early one and would have most likely been made in the northeast or Pennsylvania. The outside of the floor and the insides of the measure are dry and have a non-reflective wooden surface. The exterior sidewalls have a nicely mellowed, amber in color oak finish that may have been lacquered or at least oiled at some point previously. The tin bands have some minor to moderate oxidation on their surfaces. No attempt has been made to remove or minimize this.

There are no breaks in the sidewalls or edge flea-bites. Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
