Hand carved in the early 19. Century this extraordinary example of religious art depicts what resembles a bishop astride a horse. With most of its original polychrome paint still intact this artifact is carved with some wonderful craftsmanship if this time from a single piece of wood. Uncovered in Germany earlier this year from an estate sale.

The backing has its original cast metal hook in place so can easily be hung. Size in inches: H 34" x W 22" x D 2.5. Condition Report: Completely solid in structure and form, fading across all the surface with aged weathering (this does not affect the structure of the object). A rich patina across all the surface with naturally crackled painted surface as shown. It can be exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas in detail, therefore we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and proposing any questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment.
