Early 19th Century Antique Original Red Painted Flat Top Trunk Dated 1820. The original brick red paint has been gently distressed over generations of use, deepening the patina of this delightful flat top trunk. Hand-painted date of 1820 and lower monogram indicate it may have been part of a dowry or wedding present. Note the hand-wrought iron details, including long hinges, side corners and handles. The trunk has been professionlaly restored and sealed with a wax finish inside and out; please take a moment to enlarge the photos and examine the details up close. There is no key, but the wrought iron handles on each side make it easy to carry and move about. The flat top makes this trunk ideal to serve as a small coffee or side table table as well. Any nicks, scratches, worn areas of distress are age related and do not impact the function nor appeal of this original painted trunk.
